Change in Fees
Due to ongoing significant cost increases Plaza Medical can no longer automatically bulk bill
children aged 12 and over and Pension card holders.
When we bulk bill the practice only receives less than half our regular consult fee from Medicare.
Medicare rebates have not kept up with the costs associated with running a medical practice. As a
result we cannot afford to provide the service and pay our staff without charging private fees.
From the 1st February 2023 only children under the age of 12 will be automatically bulk billed for
doctors consultations. We will be offering a discounted rate for children 12-15yrs and for old age
pensioners who have been previously bulk billed. This fee will be $30 less than our regular
consult fee.
Should you be under temporary financial hardship and not be able to pay for your consultation
please speak to the practice manager when you make your appointment.
If you would like to give further feedback to the government about the cost of Primary Health care
and the inadequacies of Medicare please feel free to contact our Local Federal Minister - Mr RIck
Wilson ([email protected] or call (08) 9021 2044) or the Federal Health Minister Mr
Mark Butler (https://www.health.gov.au/ministers/contact-minister)
